Discipleship: A Contemporary View

A Google search for ‘Christian Discipleship’ will bring forth many interesting reads on what the concepts means.

For the sake of this journey with God, I’m going to simplify what disciples are and are not.

  • A disciple is God’s believer and follower. The relationship is built on trust and mutual benefit. The Disciple must first have faith in God himself, faith in God’s plans and faith in God’s resolve to right the wrongs of this world.
  • A disciple is one who is mentored by God. The mentoring is not about climbing the corporate or social ladder; rather, it is about shining in God’s eyes. Reaching for the highest in God’s World through righteous thinking and behaviors.
  • A disciple is one who spreads the good work and words of the Lord. A disciple is not only curious about improving his own spiritual life; but looks to spread the good news to appropriate audiences at the right time.

There you have it! That’s my contemporary view of what Disciples do.
